Hotel Makeover Edition By Beauty Expert Bobbi Brown

When Bobbi Brown sauntered away from the cosmetic industry - we were all left to wonder what would be next in line for the makeup maven. No one could have seen it coming when she and her husband, Steven Plofker, purchased a dilapidated Georgian style property and gave it the makeover of a lifetime, transforming it into a chic boutique hotel -which is handsomely named, The George.

Located in Brown’s hometown of Montclair, New Jersey - its original bones were first built as a grand residence. A very grand residence, comprised of 32 rooms in total. Original accents and elements were refurbished during the renovation process. It was important for Brown’s vision for George to maintain his historic roots, which became the inspiration for the design aspect. Bobbi paired up with One Kings Lane design team to give the new lobby and library a true facelift and refreshed style that will reverberate throughout the entire hotel. They used both modern pieces to maintain a youthful breath into the space while placing punctuations of traditional pieces to honor the historic integrity. Plaid club chairs surround a vintage trunk that doubles as a cocktail table in the sitting area and cognac leather chairs sit aside from sculptural resin side table in the library. Every detail exudes interesting angles of coziness and belonging.
