The Architect Has Entered The Building: Meet The Man Behind HuxHux

Whether it’s a creative co-working space, a super-cool startup company or a media sector on the brink of expansion, HuxHux Design widens the scope of spatial possibilities where design and curiosity play together symbiotically—just like coworkers were intended to be.

With over ten years of design experience tucked into his back pocket along with teaching professionally at Parsons school of design, principal designer Justin Huxol has paired his expertise with inherent good taste and cutting edge technique when creating HuxHux: A design firm hell-bent on creating beautiful commercial and residential spaces that feel balanced, luxe, a bit unexpected, and most importantly, inviting. An office space or a flagship store isn’t just a place to trade and do business deals after HuxHux sinks its teeth into it. Placing creativity at the forefront, each dreamed-to-life interior feels more like a place to gather and to get ideas percolating. The truth of Justin Huxol’s thought-provoking design process is evident in his portfolio, with full bragging rights to follow—having been published by Inc Magazine as one of the coolest offices in 2015. Here are some of our faves…

BARBARA STRUM
beauty from the inside, and out

Working closely with Strum’s brother and project architect, Tobias Freytag to mirror the vision for each storefront including the NYC flagship, customers receive a unique experience testing out products and services. Each aesthetic echos the brand’s ethos, driving home the spa-like vibes and making sure every storefront is fully equipped with posh sinks for customers to explore and discover wellness treatments independently.

STUDS

I’d like to exchange my Claire’s experience for this, please.

It’s more than an earring shop or a piercing boutique. It’s a consulting experience matched by a design concept that locks you in, reflectively thanks to light-soaked mirrors and gallery setting walls dripping with ornamental earrings. The organic geometric design of the space was intentional. Develop the store as a clean white box (earring box perhaps?) and then bathe it in playful and inviting lights. Oh, also there’s a STUDS bus.

MIKMAK
ah-ha moments in neon lights

For this digital marketing firm, they wanted a workspace that matched their intent to reflect the company’s rapid growth down in the Lower East Side. The finished result was just as brilliant as the minds that run the place. Custom wall murals, neon signage and made-to-order textiles and rugs sit cooly coexist throughout the entire office.
