Dinosaur Designs Debuts A Collection Filled With Optimism, Escapism, And Pure Chicness… And We Can’t Get Enough
Faraway Places Meet Vivid Colors And Bold Shapes
Aussie-based exceptional design studio, Dinosaur Designs has been producing captivating objects and jewelry for over 30 years. Designers and artists Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy have created a marbleized resin movement synonymous with handmade luxury. Creating jewelry and homewares from resin and precious metals, their showstopping pieces evoke a sense of hand-touched elegance and refinement brought to life by their origin—being made by hand in the duo’s Strawberry Hills studio in Sydney. And as they’ve grown and expanded their body of work, the creatives have remained steadfast to their core mission of color and form. Working with metal, resin, leather, and pearls, the studio continues to stop the design industry in its tracks with each collection they put forth. And the latest holiday collection is no exception!
Mother Nature Serves As An Endless Source Of Inspiration
Dinosaur Designs takes immense pride and responsibility for their environmental footprint and they make conscious efforts to support environmentally sustainable initiatives. With this in mind, their pieces are designed to be timeless, cherished, and kept forever—passing down from generation to generation. Just as experimentation and innovation are important to Louise and Stephen when they’re creating, so is continuing to focus on recognizing the impact of the production processes and finding solutions for minimizing them.
“We care passionately about our environment and are constantly evaluating how we can minimize our environmental footprint. Every piece is crafted by hand in Australia, passing through many pairs of hands in the process, giving each piece the slight differences that make it unique.”
After meeting at art school, Louise and Stephen began selling their jewelry designs at Sydney’s Paddington Markets. Propelled by a philosophy of color and form, they expanded their works into homeware, working with glass, sterling silver, and, of course, resin. Expect asymmetric plates, shallow dishes and elegant vases in a rainbow of serene marble-effect palettes.
