When The Altuzarra Catwalk Struts Beneath The Sea

It was clear skies and smooth seas ahead at Joseph Altruzarras 2022 fashion show as the designer debuted his grand scale line featuring mariner themed mythology and an oceanic parade of fluid layers, slick leathers and you guessed it - mermaid like fish scales. To say the guests were left enchanted would be an understatement. But they did also leave with a copy of Moby Dick, courtesy of the designer’s nautically dark and curious inspiration.
A posh audience was greeted with fish-like fashion and a classical sense of adventure in a moonlit evening in the Woolworth Building lobby in Manhattan. The depths of the sea and songs of sirens evoked feelings of both fantasy and history as models adorned in shoreline garb inspired by Moby Dick. The materials in the line were well considered - ones that could withstand the natural elements in the face of exploration, but not without a bit of luxury - like knit caps, chunky leather boots and jackets with fur trim coats. Jackets included mother of pearl fasteners and tote bags were decorated with leather braids. The mythical showstopper of course were the gold disc gowns, created to look like glimmering fish scales - a moment that brought people to their feet (or fins).
