It’s All About Leveling Up For Artist Annie Morris
Known for her sky-high sculptures assembled from carved foam, plaster, sand, and raw pigment, British artist Annie Morris found her artistic expression through the process of grief—she and her husband lost their baby a few years ago. The tragedy spurred Annie to start creating these towering ball-shaped sculptures in an attempt to spark joy, celebrate color, and defy boundaries. Designed to inspire hopefulness and positive vibes, the hyper-hued foam spheres are a reminder to fill your heart with love and happiness…even if it feels out of reach. Life is all about balance—finding it and learning to apply it to our lives—and Annie’s precariously placed orbs are gently placed one on top of the other—to soaring heights in many cases—to signify our ability to persevere through connectedness.
An École des Beaux-Arts Paris grad, Annie is a multidisciplinary artist working with a vast number of materials from tapestries and works on paper to molding concrete and steel. You can find Annie working in her East London studio alongside her husband, fellow artist, Idris Khan.
